Female Japanese pop singer krystalcube's debut CD, "Opening," is a very positive and energized pop album. The vocals are fluttery and calming, and completely satisfying. A mix of J-pop, 80's influences and R&B really makes this a fun album with more than a few surprises. She even includes a Japanese version of "unconditional Love," plus Instrumental versions of each track. If you could only get one track from this album, I suggest the title track, "Opening." If you're looking for some cute, poppy music from Japan, then kyrstalcube's CD "Opening" is a great place to start.

Releasing his album "Chasing Sunsets," Ryan Cowley offers listeners a collection of charming and calming Acoustic Pop music. Cowley's lyrics emit an urge to be free and live easy, giving the listener a soothing and relaxing feel. You can feel this vibe as you listen to the track "Orbit" as it is also complemented by sweet, haunting female vocals. "How Do You Mend a Broken Heart?" has the poppy feel of a John Mayer or Dave Matthews Band single. Cowley appears to take the position that too many instruments can dilute the message of a song, and sticks with the classic 4-piece guitar, bass, piano, and drum combo. The outcome of this classic small group is a beautiful blend of delightful, lighthearted pop melodies. "Chasing Sunsets" is an overall good listen and will fit snugly next to the Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson albums in your collection.

Marc James' 8-song CD, "Maximum Action," is a brilliant mix of David Bowie-meets-Bryan Ferry Euro-pop that is fit for a dance club as well as for a cabaret. Relying primarily on ambient, synth-infused soundscapes, James delivers wry, clever, and funny lyrics with an arch delivery invoking a dapper rogue completely unaware of his obviousness. The lead track, "The Perfect Stranger," captures this most effectively with a dry but melodic vocal in full seductive mode. "Hard Driving Music" rides a bouncing disco-like bass-line in a tuneful exercise that is pure schmaltz ("Do you want to swing, to dance, and sway to that hard driving rocking and rolling") - and is absolutely irresistible. On "Tribute to Marilyn" (yes, Monroe) James references Ray Davies' classic "Celluloid Heroes" with a straight-faced ingenuousness that is as subversive as it is catchy. Closing the album as strongly as it begins, "You Have A Secret" is built on a classic doo-**** chord progression that becomes transformed by a breathy, understated narrative (a la Leonard Cohen), and embellished by a solemn and perfect background chorus. In the end, Marc James' "Maximum Action" CD is that rare intriguing album by an artist that will win you over with his lush, melodic accessibility.

Identity Crisis and their CD "Mosaic," is appropriately titled as this collection of varying styles tells a love story through numerous musical genres. "Oriana's Opiphany," the second released CD from Oriana LaRusso, is a smart and contemporary collection of dance-pop tunes by a young singer with the poise and polish of a seasoned vet. LaRusso's sometimes sultry and smoky voice plays off a synth and beat-laden soundtrack in a way that is often original and compelling. On the ballad, "More Time," she shows remarkable control at the lower register of her voice while on the R&B-drenched "Not Anymore" she commands the middle register like a love-weary chanteuse. The bulk of the CD sports a predominantly Urban / Top 40 dance feel with LaRusso not only up to the material but leading it with a heady confidence. If at times you hear echoes of Madonna ("Pass Me By") or Shakira ("Watch Me"), or even J-Lo ("Standing Still in Love"), one realizes the lofty aspirations the singer has set for herself. To its credit, "Oriana's Opiphany" is a fine showcase for a singer with not only ambition, but talent as well.

Cardona's CD, "You'll Like It" employs synthesizer, echo, some propulsive drumming and, on the opening title track, a jazzy dollop of electric piano, to push the dance-centric and uptown-leaning musical agenda of Brooklyn performer, Joe Cardona. This three song disc verily smacks of unbuttoned satin shirts, garish medallions, and dance floors ablaze under flashing club lights as Cardona croons in an almost drone-like and atonal - but loosely melodic, voice about the everyday "give and take" that is modern urban life. Eschewing deeply meaningful or profound lyrics, "You'll Like It" boasts the kinds of street-tough brashness of a testosterone-fueled Brooklyn club-crawler. For instance, on the title track, Cardona warbles, "the more you lick, the more you'll taste…and the more you'll like it," while on the unsentimental "Shut Up Baby," he refuses to pull any punches, singing "shut up, shut up, baby." Made for the dance floor by an artist with the milieu that fires his muse, the CD "You'll Like It" is a well played, well produced, multi-sonic exploration of the urban experience that is sure to inspire more than just booty-shaking.

On his first solo album, "More Than I Can Be," Alan Curtis blends an array of roots rock influences with creative arrangements. The CD opens with "Ten in Heaven," a retro allusion that could lend itself to the likes of Brian Wilson or The Traveling Wilbury's while not swaying too left of contemporary. Through vocally driven songs, Curtis establishes his unique character while also keeping the layering fresh and engaging throughout. With a heartfelt piano ballad as heard on the title track "More Than I Can Be" followed by dance inducing beats, Curtis's love for rock n roll is lucid in each song. Feel the driving drum beats on "Greed (Money, Money, Money)" while vocals belt out melodic lyrics and the organ holds solid chord progressions. If your old Tom Petty records have lost their thrill, this new CD may be a solid successor.

Solo artist, Daniele Meo's debut album "Pezzi Rotti" is an impressive collection of original pop/rock songs. This young and talented artist is not only an accomplished singer, but a strong and solid writer as well. His vocals have a distinct, delicate and melodic quality that gives the lyrics an engaging feel. The production and recording quality of this CD is excellent, as the tracks are mainstream radio-ready. The guitar bends on "II Profumo Di Te" blends the pop/rock style on this energetic tune. "Le Meraviglie Del Mondo" features progressive touches of synth and percussion which really balances well with the vocals. On the titled track "Pezzi Rotti" the piano and strings driven version is expressive and shows the artistic range of this performer. Check out the enjoyable disc "Pezzi Rotti" especially if you like to hear refreshing pop/rock tunes.

With a relaxed yet soulful voice, perfectly suited to his original Adult Contemporary songs, Dwayne Ford's new CD, "On the Other Side," is a smooth blend of Soft Rock & pop influences delivered with fitting and understated polish. Mixed between arresting melodies from beginning to end, two instrumentals showcase a stellar studio band, as well as spotlighting Ford's arranging prowess. An album that's ultra radio-friendly – in a good way, Dwayne Ford's "On the Other Side" CD is sure to please Adult Contemporary & Easy Listening listeners.
